Summer Dancing with Susan

Summer Dancing with Susan

I am delighted to be offering this Saturday Afternoon Space for July and August only.

I will introduce you to Movement Medicine which is a type of active meditation and conscious dance practice. It was created by Ya'Acov and Susannah Darling Khan. It combines the freedom of free-form dancing with shamanic wisdom and modern science. You use your body's movements to express feelings, relieve stress, and feel more connected to yourself and nature.

Key Principles

Movement Medicine is designed to help you let go of thinking too much and get into your body.

  • No Rules: There is no "right way" to dance or move.

  • Embodiment: You focus purely on how your body feels in the present moment.

  • Integration: The goal is to bring the energy and freedom of the dance into your everyday life.

What Happens in a Class

A typical session is a mix of music, breathwork, and free movement.

  • Warm-up: Gentle movements to help you relax and notice your body.

  • The Wave: A journey through different types of music and movement styles (from slow and gentle to wild and high-energy).

  • Cool-down: Quiet time to sit, stretch, or lie down to process your experience.

Benefits of the Practice

Many people use this practice for physical and emotional wellness.

  • Emotional Release: It helps you process tough emotions like grief or anger.

  • Physical Health: It builds strength, balance, and flexibility.

  • Stress Relief: The rhythmic movement calms your brain and nervous system.

  • Community: You practice in a group, which helps build social connection.

I look forward to seeing you soon. Susan X You can book here

Ecstatic Dance with Lara

Ecstatic Dance invites you into a world that celebrates play, presence, and connection. It offers a space where movement becomes a form of release, a way to connect with yourself and with others.

You are invited to let your body lead and move in whatever way it needs. As we move, we begin to soften the layers that hold tension, physical and emotional, giving ourselves permission to be seen, felt, and expressed.

Sound Bath with Lara

Sound Bath with Lara

Sound Bath

With Lara & Toni

What to Expect

I very much remember my first sound bath. It felt like nothing I had experienced before. I was drifting in and out, taken by the sound waves. Two hours felt like a split second. That was when I knew that this was a modality I wanted to work with.

As I kept going back into these spaces, I realised that my experience was different each time. I understood that sound amplified what needed to be witnessed. All I could do is to deeply listen and meet what was arising with presence.

That’s what is so powerful about sound. It doesn’t need words. It is a force pointing you towards the direction of the journey, and we make of it what we need.

I’ve had very visceral experiences, ones where I fell asleep, others where I was transported into an altered state, and some where I was stuck in the mind. I learnt to observe my experience, in a new way.

We will start with mindfulness practices to help you drop into the sound session. This includes movement, mindful meditation, breathwork, vocal activation, and more.

During the sound bath, the more comfortable you are, the better. You’ll lie down comfortably, on a yoga mat with blankets and pillows, and these are provided for you. However, it is always so recommended that you make it even more comfortable. I know many people bring with them a sleeping bag for comfort.

Your presence and openness to receive is all that is required.

The Benefits of Sound & What Science Says

In the spaces we curate, the invitation is to go beyond hearing and into deep listening, to feel sound through the body and notice how the body responds to vibration.

Research suggests that certain types of sound, particularly slow rhythms and deep frequencies, can shift the body into a calmer physiological state. These sounds can help lower cortisol, the body’s main stress hormone, while encouraging the release of endorphins, the body’s natural pain relievers. As the nervous system settles, many people experience a sense of relaxation, emotional ease, and reduced perception of pain. In a world that constantly asks us to stay alert and productive, creating space for this kind of deep rest and nourishment becomes essential.

Sound also interacts directly with the nervous system through the vagus nerve. This long nerve runs from the brain through the body and plays a role in regulating the parasympathetic nervous system (the system responsible for the body’s “rest and digest” response) When this system is activated, the body begins to slow down: heart rate softens, breathing deepens, and the system moves toward restoration.

The vagus nerve can be gently stimulated through vibration and sound, particularly through the ears and vocal pathways. Practices such as humming, singing, or simply listening to resonant tones and instruments can support this process.

Sound can also stimulate. Through a field called cymatics, we see that sound vibrations can organise matter into patterns. While science is still exploring how this translates inside the body, it reminds us that vibration can influence structure.

Sound doesn’t just reach the ear. It travels through the body as mechanical vibration, influencing tissues, fluids, and the nervous system. In my humble opinion, that is why many people report visceral or thought pattern responses to sound.

This is one of the principles behind a sound bath. Through immersive vibrations and tones, the body is given the conditions to settle, regulate, and enter a state of deep rest where restoration can naturally occur.

Instruments Used

We will use a variety of acoustic instruments, each chosen for its unique resonance and energetic effect. These include:

Crystal Singing Bowls & Hand-hammered Sound Bowls, using different tonal combinations to trigger states of deep relaxation, insights, or altered states of consciousness.

Gong, an ancient, large, metal percussion instrument (usually bronze or brass) that produces deep, resonant tones and complex, layered overtones when struck

Chimes, Light, airy sounds that bring a sense of clarity and upliftment.

Drums and Shakers, Rhythmic grounding instruments used to create pulse and movement.

Other Divine Intruments

Voice, Intuitive vocal work to open space and deepen emotional connection.

Tension & Release

At the heart of the sound work is the principle of tension and release. It is a natural rhythm present in both music and the human experience. Through these built-upmoments, we allow the body to meet and feel areas of held tension. Then, I gradually shift into softness, stillness, and openness, giving you space to let go and integrate.

This cycle mirrors the way we move through emotions, stress, and healing: pressure, awareness, release, and restoration. By working with these patterns, sound can become a powerful ally in emotional processing and nervous system regulation.

Meet Your Facilitators

I am so excited to begin this journey of co-creation with my soul friend, Toni. We both speak the same language, and I know that, when you attend our sessions, you will feel it too.

Lara Wehbe

Lara offers somatic therapy and coaching, and integrates various trauma-informed modalities into her work. Her approach is influenced by Pauline Olivero’s work on deep listening, and focuses on principles of presence, openness, and curiosity in the body as we experience the sound field around us and within us. She grounds her work in somatic approaches, such as somatic meditations, vocal toning and deep listening exercises, or even body- based awareness and self-massage working with the nervous system.

Toni Falconer

Toni’s work integrates yoga, somatic practice and sound as pathways to cultivate connection and embodied presence. Their approach is influenced by Buddhist and compassion-based practices, with a particular interest in exploring awareness through mindful movement and listening. Having spent time studying and practising in Nepal, Toni’s teaching is grounded in contemplative traditions while also drawing on modern, trauma-informed somatic approaches, creating spaces that support nervous system regulation, curiosity and gentle self-inquiry.

What To Bring

You can just arrive as you are. But the more comfortable you are, the deeper your experience:

- Extra covers, layers, or even a sleeping bag (optional but yummy)

- Water Bottle

- Comfortable Clothing

- Your openness, curiosity, and presence

Value: £30

As a Qigong teacher and Shiatsu and Acupressure for Health and Wellbeing practitioner and group facilitator, I am passionate about creating spaces in community where people can pause, listen inwardly and reconnect more fully through our body’s innate intelligence, supporting balance, ease and vitality.

Together we’ll explore gentle Qigong (chee-gung), weaving mindful movement, breath, awareness and energy flow with Shiatsu (shee-at-soo) and acupressure, nurturing touch practices rooted in East Asian wisdom traditions. We will also learn short and simple practical tools that can be woven easily into daily life at home or on the go.

Gathering in community, we’ll draw inspiration from the changing seasons, the rhythms of nature and the cycles that shape our lives. Through the lens of the Five Elements, we’ll tune into these rhythms, discovering support for rest, resilience, connection and renewed zest. Everything is offered with choice, inviting you to move, pause and participate at your own pace, in ways that feel right for you. Expect gentle movement that can take place seated, standing or lying down, with space to tune in, explore and connect in a grounded, heart-centred way.

Cost: Rest & Zest - a seasonal bi monthly gathering at Yama Studios, Sundays 2–5pm
£20 Community - £30 Standard - £40 Supporter

DreamDancers

DreamDancers meet every Monday evening from 6.30-8pm.

Hello everyone, I am Susan and I wanted to tell you a bit about what we do on a Monday Evening so you can feel more comfortable to join.

I open for 6 o’clock to give you time on arrival to enjoy a tea and chocolate maybe even a chat with another, of course you can also go straight to the dance room and spend time moving and warming your body up or just resting….. we start around 6.30 and gather together in a sitting circle. Usually I will talk a bit about what we will do in class and why we do it, after whcih the circle is opened for your sharing. From there we move into the dance.

I lead the dance and offer a journey which you can follow to experience the theme of the evening….. I encourage you to bring all of you to this evening, how ever you are. We will dance alone, we will dance together, we will process and remember to experience ourselves in all our colours and conditions .

Just showing up is the first step in this process, not just when you feel good but to honour your condition and move your energy into a shape that is more inline with who you are becoming. Shaking off what no longer serves and inviting in a new way.

This is a safe place with a community of beautiful souls who would love you to join them. Look forward to seeing you sometime soon.

Ecstatic Dance with Lara

Ecstatic Dance invites you into a world that celebrates play, presence, and connection. It offers a space where movement becomes a form of release, a way to connect with yourself and with others.

Lara will begin by guiding somatic movement and connection practices to help you ground and open the body. From there, we step into a freeform dance journey. You are invited to let your body lead and move in whatever way it needs. As we move, we begin to soften the layers that hold tension, physical and emotional, giving ourselves permission to be seen, felt, and expressed.

Sound Bath with Lara

Crystal Singing Bowls&Hand-hammered Sound Bowls, using different tonal combinations to trigger states of deep relaxation, insights, or altered states of consciousness.

Value: £30

Come exactly as you are, perhaps curious, worn, tender or uncertain. There’s space for it all, with nothing to achieve and no experience needed.

Crystal Singing Bowls&Hand-hammered Sound Bowls, using different tonal combinations to trigger states of deep relaxation, insights, or altered states of consciousness.

Rest and Zest

Rest & Zest

Tune In • Explore • Connect
A journey through mindful movement and nurturing touch with Shiatsu and Qigong

Life can feel full, fast paced and demanding at times. These seasonal gatherings offer space to pause, reconnect and replenish in a welcoming, supportive environment. Come exactly as you are, perhaps curious, worn, tender or uncertain. There’s space for it all, with nothing to achieve and no experience needed.

Ecstatic Dance invites you into a world that celebrates play, presence, and connection. It offers a space where movement becomes a form of release, a way to connect with yourself and with others.

Lara will begin by guiding somatic movement and connection practices to help you ground and open the body. From there, we step into a freeform dance journey. You are invited to let your body lead and move in whatever way it needs. As we move, we begin to soften the layers that hold tension, physical and emotional, giving ourselves permission to be seen, felt, and expressed.

The session closes with a meditative sound experience to support integration and rest.

Come dance with us… to move, to feel, to connect, to remember.

Somatic Movement Practice with Susan

Hi I’m Susan and I have been really enjoying teaching this class. It is for people that want to find a form to learn and practice. We continue to practice what we know and add a little more each week. We also break the sequencing up and practice other things in class that will help our body move more freely and more deeply into the positions. It is not about punishing ourselves or rushing in this class but accepting where we are, loving ourselves a bit more and moving from there. It is the small consistant steps that make the difference to how we move and be in life, we change slowly and deliberately and work with respect for our body and being. Every now and then you might find that you take a big leap which is possible only because of the consistant practice.

It is a wonderful class for finding balance in the nervous system, bringing calm and more vibrant energy. It will help your concentration and focus as well as encouraging more strength and flexibility

I hope you will come and join us sometime and try.

Crystal Singing Bowls&Hand-hammered Sound Bowls, using different tonal combinations to trigger states of deep relaxation, insights, or altered states of consciousness.

Value: £30

The session closes with a meditative sound experience to support integration and rest.

Come dance with us… to move, to feel, to connect, to remember.
